The Cabin is a warm, nurturing, community-run nursery at the heart of Dufftown – where children learn, explore and grow in a safe, playful, outdoor-loving environment, learning life skills for their future.
Play is children's work. We offer rich learning through play — from messy play and stories to outdoor adventures, early numeracy and language activities.
The Cabin is run by an elected parent committee who oversee the centre and employ our staff team. All parents are welcome to get involved and share ideas.

The Cabin is a community nursery at the heart of Dufftown. We believe the whole town is a learning space — and every day is an adventure.
We're owned and managed by the parents of the children on our register, working in partnership with The Moray Council. We provide government-funded early learning and childcare for 3 and 4-year-olds in line with school term dates and holidays.
Every session offers a variety of play experiences. Children are encouraged to follow their interests, try new things and develop independence.
From woods and parks to community walks — we learn by doing, noticing, wondering and talking about the world around us.
Making, building, splashing, experimenting — with gentle guidance to help children gain confidence and curiosity.
Everyday moments become learning opportunities — counting, chatting, listening, and exploring new words through play.

The Cabin is run by an elected parent committee who oversee the day-to-day running of the centre and employ our staff team. Committee meetings are held roughly every six weeks, and all parents are welcome to get involved.
